Warning: if the Business Analysts and institution decision makers do not know what they are doing RUN from the project as soon as possible. Business Analysts (BA) and institution decision makers should be aware that to actually implement an ERP system that the institution is adopting the business model of the software such as Baan, PeopleSoft and SAP.

The Business Analyst role is to find and implement parts of the ERP system needed to run the business. The BA role is critical in the configuration of the business parameters in the ERP model. If the BAs are doing extensive modification and extreme configuration to the ERP system to change the ERP model to their own special business model, then the wrong software was chosen or the management and BA do not understand how to implement the ERP system.

Requests for modifications to the ERP model will slow down the implementation of the software, sometimes by years. I have never seen an implementation that did not have some modification or interface customization, however, the successful implementations all had few modifications with well defined business cases.
